Brief History

 

Veterans are our nation’s heroes on the front lines and are often forgotten after duty. With over 65% of veterans requiring additional health benefits in comparison to civilians, there is need to have the best and most convenient services available to our servicemen and servicewomen.

 

Opportunity

 

Going through the VA health benefits request process can be difficult if not properly guided for some members. In the current landscape, Veterans use mobile devices to complete over 70% of internet transactions. Access to these benefits should be modernized for the current experience and continue to evolve as needs change as well. Also, there is need based upon members to have a seamless experience that is simple and quick to use.

 

Innovation

 

The Agency would work closely with the strong innovation of VA and USDS on how to best help bring these solutions to Veterans and their families. Data analytics and visualization are aspects that can be modernized and easier tracked to make better decisions with the aggregate data information within the military. We want to be cautious and intentional with the applications and leverage tools that are friendly for the task for the military members and developers within the VA.

 Through this development, we hope to achieve the 3 following areas:

  1. Cleaner and precise data for more timely decisions
  2. Giving health benefits and support to Veterans and their families when needed in a simple manner
  3. Allowing developments for future solutions for Veterans and developers to better serve them
